Why Bother Complaining ? - Ok. Most reasonable people don't bother to get worked up about loosing a few dollars. In my case I paid for a cheeseburger, along with other food from Hungry Jacks, and I assume they forgot to include it in my order. The reason I have bothered to chase up Hungry Jacks for my burger is that on more than one occasion Hungry Jacks has accused me of lying and served up what I think is poor customer service.

Time For A Tasty Burger - At the time I was working in the city for a consultancy, writing a proposal with a team on a very tight timeframe. That meant we were working very late and eating whatever we could get our hands on quickly. This night it was pretty late by the time I was heading home, and I got the cab to pull up to Hungry Jacks, on Kings Way to get some dinner. As I had the taxi waiting for me I didn't eat in the restaurant and rushed back to the cab. When I got home I realised they had not put the cheeseburger I had ordered into the bag with the rest of the food - I ordred quite a lot. I was annoyed because I was half an hour drive away and grumpy because I had been working late.

A Quick Call Should Fix This Up - I called up the store and politely told them what my order was and how a cheeseburger had been left out. Apparently whoever answered the phone at Hungry Jacks found the girl who had servered me and talked to her about the order mess up. They then came back to the phone and told me the girl who served me was SURE she got the order right. This wasn't what I wanted to hear. I had bothered to call them and speak politely to give them a chance to correct their mistake and now I was basically being accused of lying and trying to get a free burger. I pointed this out and had the distinct feeling Hungry Jacks felt I was trying to extort a burger out of them and they begrugingly told me I could come back to the store to claim my cheeseburger. I explained I don't often go near that particular Hungry Jacks and it was only becaues I was catching a taxi home I went by there. They said I would have to come to thier store and they would put my name up on the wall so the staff would know about the burger. I asked how long the note would be on the wall and I was told indefinately and that some names had been on the wall for years. Perhaps they DO get some orders wrong then?

Many Moons Later - In November last year, after travelling overseas and working interstate, I finally made it back to the Hungry Jacks that owed me a burger. Do understand this is Novermber 2004 - maybe it was unreasonable for me to think I could still get my burger, but I wanted it. I was told in the store that the names on the wall that were owed a burger had been removed a few months ago and so they had no record of owing me a burger. Once again Hungry Jacks assumed I was being dishonest and wouldn't give me a burger. I told them I wasn't happy about that and they told me to write to their head office and gave me and address to write to.

Writing to Hungry Jacks - So I write to Hungry Jacks telling them everything that has happened. That was early November last year and I haven't got a call, email, letter anything. By now I'm peeved at Hungry Jacks for treating me like I'm trying to get a free feed out of them, when I'm just trying to get what I paid for. It's over the top getting annoyed about a buger, I know this, but what's the point of having a rant section on your site if you don't get to rant I ask?!?!

Conclusion I paid for a buger and didn't get it. I probably would have let it go execpt that Hungry Jacks have assumed on more than one occasion that I'm lying - and I'm not. HJ also failed to respond to my letter - a letter the Kings Way restaurant asked me to write..

They taste better when you actually get to eat them...
